First of all, I adore the blue background. It accompanies the melancholy and sad scene here. It almost feels like one is underneath an ocean but said ocean is filled with despair and hopelessness. And I also love the lone white light that could symbolize as the only escape from the despair.

Secondly, the characters themselves. The tears from the character of the top fits very well with the emotions of the loss of, what I assume to be, his brother on the bottom. It's almost like he is clinging onto him, even when he passes from one life into the next.
